Turkey, The Regional Hub to Connect Europe and Asia

The Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) and Turkey Investment Office co-organized the webinar, Turkey: The Regional Hub to connect Europe and Asia on the 13th of August to provide an overview of the Turkish economy and opportunities in the post COVID-19 era with a specific focus on the Agrofood industry.

Mr Maneesh Tripathi, Vice-Chairman, SICCI started off the webinar with the welcome remarks and introduced all the speakers; Ms Yasemin Esenlik, Overseas Office & Activities Manager, Turkey Investment Office; Mr Sanjeev Sharma, Senior Vice President & Head of Sesame Business Unit, Olam International; Ms. Müge Dağli Durukan, Commercial Counsellor at the Turkish Embassy; Mr Halit Duran, Industry Expert at the Turkey Investment Office and Mr Emre Buyukkilic, Singapore Country Advisor at Turkey Investment Office.

The webinar covered topics such as the Turkey Investment Office and their roles, Olam International’s journey in Turkey, trade agreements between Singapore and Turkey, development opportunities in the Agrofood sector in Turkey and the process of establishing a business in Turkey.

The presentations were followed by a Q&A session moderated by Mr Emre Buyukkilic where the speakers provided insightful inputs on topics such as recent Agri-tech trends apart from traditional Agri-food as well as advice on repatriating investments in Turkey as dividend income. Lastly, Mr Kishore Daryanani, Vice-Chairman, SICCI, delivered the vote of thanks, thanking all the speakers for the valuable information that they had shared during the session.
